Dr Ronan Astin

Ronan Astin is a Clinical Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine at Whittington Health, London, and a Respiratory medicine trainee. He is currently completing a PhD in mitochondrial physiology at the Institute for Human Health and Performance, University College London, with wider research interests in muscle physiology, oxygen delivery and exercise performance. This led to his role as a researcher on the 2013 Xtreme Everest 2 expedition, and his current position as Honorary Clinical Researcher at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) where he is undertaking research into the deleterious effects of chemo-radiotherapy on exercise capacity and the role of exercise training in ameliorating these effects.
