Dr Julia Selby

Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist for Upper Airway Disorders

Julia works at the Royal Brompton Hospital as the Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist for the upper airway service. She is one of a few therapists in the country with expertise in treating patients with upper airway disorders, such as chronic cough, laryngospasm and inducible laryngeal osbtruction. She has a special interest in functional/psychogenic disorders and has trained in CBT.

Before qualifying as a therapist, Julia carried out research in the field of voice, culminating in gaining her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut.

She is currently chairperson of the Respiratory SLT Clinical Excellence Network and has previously led both the London Voice and FEES and Videofluoroscopy special interest groups.
