Dr Andrew Curry
Dr Curry is a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care and Cardiac Anaesthesia, with a particular interest in congenital heart disease in both paediatrics and adults, and in advanced cardiovascular support utilising extracorporeal circuits (ECMO).He trained in medicine at Cambridge University, qualifying in 1998, and hasa Masters in Pharmacology also from Cambridge.He hasbeen a Consultant at University Hospital Southampton since 2008, where he isthe Lead for Congenital Cardiac Anaesthesia, Lead Anaesthetist for ECMO, and am the Medical Lead for Cardiac Intensive Care. He hasliaison roles in co-ordinating anaesthesia for patients with advanced renal tumours requiring cardiopulmonary bypass to facilitate IVC surgery, and for patients with Adult Congenital Heart Disease in pregnancy or who are undergoing non-cardiac surgery. He also spent a year on Sabbatical in 2009 working at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan specialising in the care of congenital heart disease patients with single-ventricle circulations.He ismarried with 4 children and live in the New Forest where he is a keen photographer and motorcyclist.
