Dr Alistair McNarry
Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, UK
I have been a consultant anaesthetist working in Edinburgh for the past 8 years having completed most of my training in London. My interests are in all aspects of airway management – specifically the avoidance of difficulty – and in teaching others to do likewise.
I completed a term on the DAS Committee as Newsletter Editor in 2013 and regularly participate in airway workshops organised by the Association and the College. My current interests revolve around the National Airway Leads Project (a joint collaboration between the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Difficult Airway Society) where I organised the first Airway Leads Day in September 2013 and in the revision of the 2004 Difficult Intubation Guidelines. In my spare time I am part of the World Airway Management Meeting organising committee and I am investigating aids to human performance in airway emergencies.
